Landmark of the City, the Iron Market was destroyed by fire before the January 12th Quake.

It was rebuilt thanks to the funds of Irish Entrepreneur Denis O’Brian, owner of Digicel Group. “As a company, we’re more aligned to the masses than to the elites,” Mr. O’Brien said of his interest in the market. ( Read NYTimes article about the opening of Iron Market there )

C’est un marché au coeur du centre ville où il y a beaucoup de chose à découvrir. Je suis toujours émerveillé quand je vais là bas

The Iron Market is the first sign of reconstruction since the EQ. The place is clean, organized and it looks way better than how is was before. You will find anything from fruits and vegetables to Meat and Botanica. It amazes me how my fellow Haitian’s are soo into voodoo. It also thaught me the various similarities between catholicism and voodoo.

This is definitely a monument to visit 🙂
