I like and often recommend Yanvalou, but I feel the price of concerts is waaaaaayyyyy too much.
For example, last August 23 for DJ Gardy and Akoustik, the cover was US $15 (700 HTG). Very expensive considering the cover charge doesn’t even include a beer/soft drink. And that Akoustik plays for free on Thursdays.

I give this place one star. The reason being that the food for the price you pay should be better. There is no service, nothing. Really nothing to talk about. If i am hungry and near, i will stop to eat there without any 2nd thoughts.

This place is really starting to disappoint. It’s a great location, cool ambiance and decent food but the service is going downhill fast. People don’t pick up the phone, orders are forgotten and when you eat on location you better plan to be there for hours. Get it together people – don’t ruin a good thing!

Great atmosphere every Saturday night. The food is decent. The bar is lacking a lot. They definitely need to hire a serious bartender. The troubadour band Ti koka is amazing !!! Keep them around !

The place has character. I enjoyed the theatrical reading last time I went, there were writers, artists, expats, young people, the menu was attractive and the beers not expensive. A good place to invite friends.

The few times I have been to Yanvalou it has been pure joy. The drinks are kept relatively low, the music is good, and the atmosphere is warm. It’s hidden in Pacot, but home to a lot of expats. You are likely to run into your colleagues if you’re from the international community. I would certainly recommend this place.

Excellent endroit à Pacot. Les salades sont délicieuses, et à un prix très abordable. La décoration aussi est très originale.

There is a random friendly dog who sprints (or tries to sprint…she is rather fat) accros the floor from time to time. she makes for a welcomed distraction. it is obvious though that the owners are not haitian. (when do you ever see a dog at any haitian business that is not getting her ass kicked for daring to come inside??) menu is rather skinny. drinks are strong and prices are good. decor is really where the interest is and the location is key. this is a welcomed change from PV. crowd is almost exclusively ex-pat. at least when i was there.

Yanvalou restaurant it’s a really nice place with a such a great atmosphere, food is good and the vintage deco really help you enjoy the time. The owners are really nice people, so friendly. You feel like you are in a nice ” bistrot of europe” or a really nice cafe at manhattan but with that Haitian touch that make you feel so proud, it’s definitely a place to go.
